It may be snowing outside right now and I may have forgotten what sunshine feels like so I think it’s time to set a mood board and will spring into action with sheer determination.
That first day of leaving the house without a winter coat and the feeling of the suns rays warming your bones isn’t far off but as a firm believer of getting what you wish for I’m just putting it out there with this post that I am more than ready for a bit of summer sun.
Let’s have some summer fashion inspiration!
Summer casual – I’m all for comfortable fashion and applaud anyone who can wear heels for more than a few hours a day. I put this look together around this beautiful straw bag – there’s just something about straw handbags that screams summer and days at the beach! Paired with a relaxed day dress, which of course must come with some handy pockets, an oversized pair of sunglasses and some comfortable espadrilles this would be my perfect summer outfit. Ideal for exploring whilst on holiday or just getting your day to day tasks done – this is me personified in a summer outfit. Items – all found at Asos
Swimwear – gosh it feels like a long time since I went swimming in the sea, in fact, I think it was over a year ago! I miss the salty kiss of the water and the rhythmic sound of the waves as they lap against the sandy shore. With 2017 being the year of the bikini I feel as though 2018 is going to be the year of the one piece, with intricate patterns, styles and textures taking centre stage. I love the scallop back and bardot ruffles on these swimsuits from Boohoo which are beautiful feminine cuts for lounging by the pool but if you’re into a more sporty cut and fit then this purple striped suit from Tyr is the one for you. If snorkelling and swimming in the waves is also your idea of fun then going for a safer cut and style is a must otherwise you could emerge a bit out of place. (Ladies you know what I mean). I tend to own a combination of practical and fashionable swimwear to cover all activities from lazing about in a rubber ring to riding the waves off the coast of Mexico.
Activities – I can tell you now that as soon as the evenings get a little longer and the sun stays up past 6 pm the BBQ will be coming out. One of my all-time favourite summer activities is spending time with family and friends on a warm afternoon around the BBQ. Cold drinks flowing and the bonfire roaring as we sit outside and watch the last of the days light turn to dusk and the stars appear in the night sky. Most of my summer activities revolve around out-door dining, what can I say we’ve got to make the most of the weather whilst we have it! My other favourite summer activity is taking the dog for a walk in the woods, the shade of the vibrant canopy providing welcome relief from the burning sun. Watching him lollop along the winding paths never ceases to bring me joy.
