  • My September Favourites

    My September Favourites

Back when blogging was new and there were only a handful of people creating content one of my favourite posts to read were always people’s monthly favourites.

When you feel a connection with a persons personality and writing you develop a greater level of trust in what they are sharing with you. I’d always buy clothes based on online recommendations from others and one of my favourite jumpers to this day was purchased as a result of Victoria, In The Frow’s, monthly haul.

So I thought it time to re-kindle my love for monthly favourites by sharing my own. It’s not an endless list, but it’s the few things I’ve been loving as the weather changed and the leaves began to turn in September.

    Geometric mirrors

I actually have two of these mirrors in my apartment, one a hexagon and the other a circle. Both have the same antique gold finish and chain. I simply adore the way these mirrors finish a room, they bounce back the light and reflect the plants around them adding depth to the two-dimensional walls and opening up another dimension.

    Figure fitting silhouettes

This isn’t so much an item as a style. I went on a bit of a health kick throughout August and September and as a result, I feel more comfortable in my body than I have done in years. For the first time in forever, I’ve found myself seeking out more figure-hugging outfits that show off my new-found waist and curves. What I don’t love so much about this style is the fact that most clothing these days seems to be thin and unlined and so underwear easily shows through a tight pair of trousers and somewhat ruins the smooth effect I was looking for. As such I’ve started using shape-wear to hide these lines and to give me that seamless effect I was looking for. For someone like me who also lacks a bit of body confidence, I find that a figure control body gives me that extra push to try styles I may otherwise have avoided. The great thing about this body by Hunkemoler is that you can wear your own bra, enhancing the features you do like and smoothing out those that you may feel need a little help.

    The Ozarks

My Netflix series of choice throughout September was The Ozarks, a drama series following a financial advisor and his family as they try to dig themselves out of a very deep hole that they’ve got themselves into with the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. It’s a little dark, at times gruesome, but captivating and clever and I couldn’t get enough. I watched the first season back to back and felt a little lost when it ended. Thankfully the BBC’s Bodyguard made a suitable replacement.

    Craft beer

Over the past few months, my body has had a strange new tolerance to gluten and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying drinking beer for the first time in my life. I’m very lucky to have an independent off-license just along the street from where I live and it stocks all variety of small batch, exquisitely labelled beer. I’ve slowly been working through the ones with the prettiest labels and won’t pretend to be an expert on the flavour profiles but I do seem to have developed a liking for those that are brewed with a little citrus, which gives them a zesty zing. (The eagle-eyed among you may also notice the Gosnells Mead, I have to be honest and say it was the bottle that drew me to this but the mead itself I found very sweet and sickly and not at all what I had expected).

My favourite of those shown here is most definitely the Queen of Diamonds IPA, it has a refreshing citrus flavour but with a deliciously bitter edge – and the label is drop dead gorgeous too.

So there you have it, those are the things I have been loving this September. I hope you can perhaps find some joy in them too.

I love geometric house bits and bobs at the moment so I’m loving that mirror! I’ve never been a fan of eer but I know what you mean about being attracted to the pretty labels haha
