5 books to change your life

These 5 books have all had monumental impacts on my life, they’ve helped me become better, reach goals and succeed. Make 2018 the year for personal development and start your journey with one of these gems.

 

1. Make Your Bed: Small things that can change your life… and maybe the world

Make your bed is a book of simple and attainable actions perfectly linked with personal anecdotes. Succinct and to the point this is the quick read you need to give yourself a pep talk and start making those little changes that will have a big impact on the rest of your life.

 

2. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking

I spotted a man reading this on the Northern Line and was intrigued by its minimalistic cover. It was as though I were supernaturally drawn to it. Quiet is a book that every introvertĀ (and extrovert) needs to read. It gets a bit scientific at times but delves deep into the mindset of the introvert and how they’re far more powerful than people give them credit for. Identifying as an introvert myself this clarified a lot for me and made me realise that I needn’t wish for extroversion when I have a unique set of capabilities as an introvert.

 

3. The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k

I first read this book during my final year of university at a time when an old friendship had turned sour. Not only did it help me with realising that not everyone is going to like you but it changed the way I perceived negativity. Be warned every other word is a profanity but this is a down to earth book that I think most people will really relate to. If you’re fed up with caring too much what people think about you then you must give this a read.

 

4. Get Your Sh*t Together: The New York Times Bestseller

By the same author as The life-changing magic of not giving a f**k this book is also well padded with swear words but also life-altering advice. Using this book I saved for a holiday, got myself an internship and moved into my first flat in London which consequently all led to where I am now, happily employed and a fully fledged graduate. Put simply this book has revolutionised the way I get stuff done. As a grade A procrastinator it has helped to re-train my brain in such a simple way and I find myself mumbling ‘get your sh*t together’ several times a day when I have tasks that need doing but instead am reorganising my wardrobe. A must-read for anyone who is goal setting or a procrastination queen, like me.

 

5. The Secret

This book was given to me by a friend at work who has been using its magic for years. In the few short days since reading The Secret so much has become clear to me. If you’re looking for a new way to approach life, a positive way in which you can truly have anything you dream of then this is the book for you. Money, a car, a house, you name it this book will help you get it. At times it seems a bit hard to believe but at the core of it, this book is changing your mindset to allow you to achieve everything you’ve ever wished for and more.
