I was debating whether or not to write this post because I have to be honest and say I didn’t want to take the outfit pictures and I didn’t feel I had purchased enough to warrant posting about. However, seeing as I love all three pieces I felt I should share them with you!
Without further ado, here are the three items I purchased.
I saw this dress in black on one of Victoria’s (In The Frow’s) YouTube hauls, I was immediately taken with how thick it seemed and the fact the length looked as though it would be a good fit for someone who’s 5ft9. (Yay for ASOS telling you the height of their models) I hate feeling exposed in jumper dresses and there’s nothing worse than spending the day pulling something down.
I went for the lovely Christmas green colour thinking that my wardrobe already has far too many black pieces and could do with a bit of festive colour. As soon as I took this out of the plastic bag I knew it was a keeper. It felt amazing, it was so soft and thick and felt of a much higher quality than its £35 price tag would lead you to imagine. The length falls perfectly between thigh and knee and it is beautifully oversized. I went for my usual size 14 and this was the perfectly oversized fit. If you’d rather a more fitted style then I’d suggest sizing down. I’ve already worn this with black tights and tried it on bare legged with over the knee leather boots, both styles looked class and effortless. I can tell that this piece is going to be very versatile and a new favourite.
I’ve been watching the mum and boyfriend jean trend from afar, always sticking to my trusty skinny jeans but admiring those who pulled off the more relaxed fit. After what seemed like an eternity I finally decided to give them a go. In the spirit of my own post “The Little Things,” I purchased the pair that kept screaming out at me as I scrolled down the ASOS feed. The pearl and diamonte detail and the frayed hem make these jeans far more than just a plain piece of denim. They’re a real statement piece that can be styled up with heels or styled down with trainers.
They’re super high waisted which I love! I have a very long torso so normally high waisted trousers will sit somewhere mid hip, these managed to reach my waist (Halleluja!) I purchased a size 14 and felt they were a little snug, but expect them to stretch a little as the denim is worn. For £35 they’re a lot cheaper than many other embellished jeans and a great place to start.
This was another of those pieces that normally I would have decided would never suit me. Firstly it’s slightly cropped and as I just mentioned my long torso means that slightly cropped can lead to a completely exposed midriff whilst actual cropped quite often results in nothing but a boob tube. With the high waisted denim, this top is perfect. It sits just below the waistline revealing the perfect amount of skin as you move. With its button-down front and collar its a smart casual piece that embodies two of my favourite things, embroidery and velvet. I used to have a fabulous pair of flared jeans with flowers all down the leg back in the 00’s before embroidery took off and this top is my nod back to those size 8 jeans. Again I ordered a size 14 but felt this to be quite undersized. In fact, I nearly sent it back for the 16 but didn’t want it to become too baggy and decided to compromise. As long as I don’t intend on doing pilates or raising my arms above my head then it’s fine. At £24.99 I did umm and argh about this piece as that seemed quite pricey for a top from New Look but for the happiness it brings me it’s worth every penny.
Have you purchased anything from ASOS recently? Let me know in the comments!
